The Secret to a Successful Construction

For a successful construction, you must first be able to identify the best steel that can be used in the building of your home. TMT Bars, also known as Thermo Mechanically Treated Bars is a rising product in the market today, known for its high resistance and strong structure. Searching for the right material often consumes a lot of time, but you don’t have to worry about that, because ARS Steel, one of the largest steel-providing companies in South India offers the best quality TMT Rebars in Chennai. ARS Steel’s 550D TMT Bars have reformed the future of the steel industries by providing premium quality, better resistance in terms of climatic disasters and corrosions, and ideal structure.

Identifying your Steel

Scientifically

There are two tests that can help you identify the quality of your material; The Acid & The Magnetic Test. As the name suggests, the acid test is a scientific method that can prove the quality of your steel by using two spoons. However, both the spoon should differ in quality, one should be of a better caliber than the other. Once you have the spoons ready, add vinegar to them and leave them for a while for better distinguishing. Upon tasting, you’ll notice that the vinegar on the poor-quality spoon tastes purely like metal, while the spoon with a better caliber tastes exactly like vinegar. Thus, showing the difference between the two.

The magnetic test is another scientific method where you check the presence of nickel in the steel. If it contains nickel, then the magnet will not tend to stick to it, showing the real standards of the material. However, this test is not always reliable, but it’s worth a try.

Non-Scientifically

This test focuses on bending TMT Rebars through the process of plastic deformation. In this test, force is applied to the bar until it bends at a specific degree to determine the stability of the steel. The test is normally carried out with the help of two supports, and a mandrel in a room temperature area, while focusing on the length of the test piece, which totally depends on its diameter.

This test focuses on the effects of strain on the steel with the help of nitrogen diffusion, and that is because the risk of the material cracking is highly possible when the temperature is decreased. The test following the bending of a TMT Rebar at a 157-degree angle by applying load to it after immersing the material into boiling water for 30 minutes and then cooling it off via nitrogen.

Safety Guidelines

Being exposed to construction sites can be of high risk, and that is due to the fact that the work done there involves different processes, machinery and materials. So, it is of utmost importance that you ensure your safety before visiting such areas. This includes the other workers and engineers present there. The following factors are to be highly noted during a visit to a construction site:

  • Safety shoes to keep your legs dry and warm.
  • Construction helmet to protect yourself from harmful sun rays, as well as any damage that can be caused.
  • Dust protective masks to avoid hazardous specks of dust from entering your lungs.
  • Safety gloves to avoid direct contact with harmful objects.
